Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff is understood to have been given the green light to leave the club on loan.
That is the claim from the Chronicle, who say the player’s representatives are currently deciding the best option for him.
Matty supposedly has interest from Championship sides, Derby County and Middlesbrough.
Belgian outfit Anderlecht are also though to be keen.
The future of the 21-year-old is something fans have a close eye on this summer.
Last term he hardly got a look in, with Steve Bruce handing him just five appearances.
Many felt as though he should have been given far more chances.
Ultimately Bruce didn’t really trust him, or Elliot Anderson, to come in and shake things up.
Matty had a lucrative offer to go to Udinese last year, but he ended up staying put. Perhaps an exit will be more likely this time around.
Matty did feature in Sunday’s pre-season friendly defeat to York City, but there was no word from Bruce about him getting a proper look at him in the coming games.
Game time paramount
It is vital that Matty gets to play regularly in 2021/22.
Last term just wasn’t ideal for him and his development.
He is a wonderful young talent and needs the opportunities to showcase his ability.
It seems Newcastle are now happy to let him leave on loan, and that could be exactly what he needs to get back on track.
Going to the Championship would be a great experience for him.
