Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff has emerged as a potential transfer target for Serie A outfit Udinese.
The English youngster endured a frustrating 2020/21 season, with Steve Bruce handing him just five appearances.

Fans expected him to really kick on following his debut against Manchester United in 2020/21, on which he scored.
But he was continually overlooked by Bruce last term. And it was the same story with Elliot Anderson.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Udinese are keen again.

The Italian club were linked with the player last year.
Sky Sports reported the younger Longstaff brother was actually offered a five-year contract by them and double his current salary.
A move didn’t materialise then, but one wonders if Longstaff may push for an exit this time.
It’s explained Udinese could be losing Rodrigo De Paul, and they want a replacement.
Longstaff needs to be playing
Last year was a bit of a waste for Longstaff.
There were clear opportunities for him to play, but Bruce appeared to just not trust him.

Corriere’s report doesn’t specify if Udinese want him permanently or on loan.
Ideally it would be a loan move. Longstaff is a talent, and he needs the minutes to showcase it.
