Newcastle are among the clubs keen on Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara, according to a report by the Mirror.

They report that the financial crisis in Ligue 1 – Paris Saint-Germain aside – has created opportunities in the transfer market.

And 21-year-old Kamara, who can play in defensive midfield or as a central defender could be on the move.

They report that Kamara could move for £15 million but also that Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola are keen.

He’s in the final year of his contract so a deal could be there to be done before the end of the window.

Liverpool like their shrewd purchases, never overpaying for a player and Kamara is the right age profile for them.

If City get involved in the bidding, Newcastle can’t complete but their priorities might be Jack Grealish and Harry Kane.

Marseille are keen not to lose him for nothing next summer and are running out of chances to get a fee for him if they can’t get Kamara to sign a new contract.

£15 million would likely be a fair chunk of Newcastle’s summer budget and would hark back to the Alan Pardew era where they plundered French football on a regular basis.
