Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle is reportedly wanted by Chris Wilder – if he gets the West Bromwich Albion job.
The currently unattached 53-year-old is expected to be named the next Baggies boss following the departure of Sam Allardyce.
Wilder was been out of work since getting the sack by Sheffield United back in March.

It looks like his next gig will be at the Hawthorns though, and the Sunday Mirror (30/5; page 76) have today claimed that he already has potential signings in mind.
Apparently, he’s keen to land £10 million man Gayle (BBC Sport), who struggled for game time thoughout 2020/21.
He once again had fitness issues, but was also firmly behind the likes of Callum Wilson and Joelinton.
He made just 20 (mostly cameo) appearances in total, and played 90 minutes only once.
Newcastle should sell
It is known how much Steve Bruce likes Gayle, but it’s surely the end of the line for him at St. James’ Park.
His goalscoring record in the Premier League is not great, and his injury record is somewhat concerning.

It was reported this week that the club will hear offers for Gayle, so hopefully Wilder comes in with a decent one if he does become West Brom’s new manager.
It’s imperative the money received is then used to improve other areas of the team.
