Steve Bruce and his transfer team are at odds over transfer target Will Hughes.
That is according to journalist Alan Nixon, who first broke news of Newcastle’s interest in the midfielder.
Supposedly the Magpies are keen on the Watford star.
But he is valued at about £12 million, which could potentially be a sticking point.
A follow-up report from Nixon in The Sun claimed Bruce could offer Isaac Hayden as a sweetener.
But it seems not everybody agrees about a potential move to St. James’ Park for Hughes.
Apparently there is a conflict of interests between Bruce and recruitment officials.
There are no more additional details provided or reasons why the transfer team do not approve of a potential swoop.
A suggestion of disarray
If true, this is just not ideal.
Newcastle are yet to sign anyone this summer.
It is vital that everybody is on the same wavelength when it comes to transfer targets.
Hughes is a good, technical player and for the right price he could be a good addition.
We don’t know why the recruitment people don’t want him – perhaps it is a case of him just being too expensive.
