Spanish giants Real Madrid are looking at Newcastle United target Moussa Diaby as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard should the Belgian leave this summer.

Newcastle have been looking to sign Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen since last summer but have never managed to agree a fee with the German club.

That hasn’t put Newcastle off however, and Diaby remains a popular target amongst Newcastle fans. He’s very highly thought of within the club too with him being said to be Newcastle’s ‘dream‘ signing.

Real Madrid have Diaby as one of a trio of potential replacements for Hazard

Madrid Zone on Twitter have mentioned that Real Madrid are looking at Diaby as well as Karim Adeyemi and Brahim Diaz. The latter has also been linked with Newcastle in the past.

Their claim is backed up by a piece in Marca which suggested that Real would look to sign Moussa Diaby if Eden Hazard were to leave Los Blancos this summer.

Newcastle have other targets in mind for that LW position Diaby would occupy

Now that Newcastle can offer Diaby Champions League football, it could make things a bit easier for the Magpies to sign the pacy winger this summer after failing to land him in the last two windows.

However, he is now just one of several players Newcastle are looking at for that position with Sadio Mane recently linked, as well as Dominik Szoboszlai who’s versatility could see him playing on the left wing for Newcastle if he were to sign.

It would be a shame to miss out on Diaby now after chasing him for so long, but we have to trust the process and if he’s no longer a priority for Dan Ashworth and Eddie Howe, we just have to trust they know what they’re doing – it’s worked so far.
