Newcastle United owners PIF also oversee some of the biggest clubs in Saudi Arabia and are now looking to raid Manchester United.
The Newcastle United owners are also in charge of Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League and have embarked on an aggressive recruitment drive over the last few summers.
Some of the most high-profile players in the world have joined PIF’s clubs out in Saudi in recent years.
Indeed, PIF are paying Cristiano Ronaldo an eye-watering salary at Al-Nassr. The Portuguese great is surely the biggest name playing out there, but there are stars everywhere you look.
Now, they are looking to land Ronaldo’s former Manchester United teammate and fellow Portugal star Bruno Fernandes.

PIF hold positive talks with Bruno Fernandes
According to The Sun, Al-Ittihad are interested in Fernandes.
Fernandes was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia earlier this summer but ultimately remained at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim’s side, however, have since added Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to their attack – all of whom were previously linked with Newcastle.
The report adds that though Fernandes initially snubbed a move to Saudi, representatives of the PIF-owned club have held “positive” talks.
Fernandes is understood to have asked for a deal worth a huge £33million a year.
How PIF feel about Newcastle United now
The idea of Man United losing one of their best players should be a boost for Newcastle given their Premier League rivalry, although the money PIF could potentially give them for Fernandes could help Amorim further rebuild his squad.
Newcastle fans could be forgiven for questioning PIF this summer. The Newcastle United owners have come under fire, even despite the fact the club ended their infamously long wait for a trophy while under their ownership earlier this year.
However, PIF remain committed at Newcastle and wish to make them a regular fixture in the Premier League’s top five.
It seems their plans for their Saudi clubs are completely different to the ones they have at St James’ Park.
