Fabrizio Romano has issued an update regarding Newcastle United target Youri Tielemans ahead of the summer transfer window.
It looks like Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans will be playing on of his final games for the club at St James’ Park against Newcastle on Monday as the Belgian will leave the Foxes this summer.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has tweeted this morning: “Youri Tielemans will leave Leicester as free agent, no doubts since last summer; understand has not agreed terms with any club yet.
Tielemans has ‘multiple offers’ on the table
“There are multiple proposals on the table but Youri is focused on final games then he will assess his options and decide next club.”
Newcastle reportedly looked at signing the ‘outstanding‘ Belgian in January but were put off by his wage demands and ultimately walked away.
Talk of a move to Newcastle for Tielemans has gone quiet since March, but as the transfer window approaches, could Newcastle be on of those clubs Romano claims have made proposals?

Tielemans has come under fire this season for his poor performances
While his form hasn’t been the best this season, that could be in part down to playing in a very below par Leicester side who are staring relegation in the face.
Tielemans has only managed three goals and one assist in 29 Premier League appearances this season which is likely to have made big clubs look elsewhere. By contrast, Newcastle’s other coveted Leicester player, James Maddison has still managed 10 goals and nine assists and has played one game fewer, and both have been playing in the same struggling side.
However, if a move to a new club were to revitalise Tielemans then that club would have a superb player on their hands, so I wouldn’t be opposed to Newcastle trying to bring him in for free this summer. We need bodies, our lack of squad depth has been exposed several times this season, so a free signing or two isn’t a bad way to go.
On his day, Tielemans is is world-class, but this season has tarnished his reputation for sure. Replies to Romano’s tweet shows just how much he is dividing opinion right now with some fans calling him lazy and fans of rival clubs hoping that their club signs him up.
Again, for me, this one is a no-brainer. As long as his ego doesn’t force him to make ridiculous wage demands due to being a free agent, surely it’s too good for an offer to pass up. Even if he ends up being hot garbage next season we could sell him and make a profit. Win-win.
