There is still a possibility that Alexander Isak could play for Newcastle United.
While the forward has burned his bridges at St James’ Park, there is no guarantee that he will be sold.
As it stands, Alexander Isak is refusing to play for Newcastle United. The feeling is that his Toon career is over, with Isak keen to join Liverpool.
However, he might not get his wish. Newcastle will need to sign a replacement, which might be beyond them so late in the summer window. That is why Isak is likely to stay at Newcastle at this moment in time.
That could create an uncomfortable situation, as there is no way the 25-year-old will refuse to play for the Magpies all season if he remains on Tyneside.

Nobby Solano thinks Alexander Isak will be fine if he apologises to the Newcastle United fans
Isak may have to play in front of the Newcastle United fans again, which will lead to an interesting dynamic. The striker has hurt the Toon Army, most of which want to see the back of him.
But if he does play for the club again, is there any chance of the Newcastle United fans forgiving him?
Toon legend Nobby Solano certainly thinks so, insisting that there is a way back for Isak if he apologises and starts scoring goals again.
“You know Newcastle fans give you the best all the time,” he told TalkSPORT.
“Every player if you play for this shirt. They haven’t won so many trophies for many years but these fans are really faithful. They are always behind the team and the players.
“We’ll see. I hope he stays. He probably needs to apologise for the situation if he stays. After that, if you get on the pitch and start to perform like they expect, he will be fine.”
Solano’s assessment is spot on. He will likely be booed by his own fans to begin with if he plays for Newcastle again, but Isak will be able to turn the tide if he starts scoring goals for the club. An apology is vital too, as his conduct this summer has been unacceptable.
Whether Eddie Howe expects Alexander Isak to stay at Newcastle United
Ahead of Isak missing Newcastle’s game against Aston Villa, Eddie Howe has been asked about the forward’s future at St James’ Park.
The Newcastle United manager was asked if he thinks Isak will still be with the club after the summer transfer window closes.
“At the moment I would say yes but I’ve had no change of feeling throughout the summer,” he said, as reported by the Chronicle.
“He’s contracted to us but it’s out of my hands.”
Isak has a Newcastle United contract until 2028. That deal does not include a release clause, so Liverpool or anyone else will need to negotiate a fee with Toon officials.
He is valued at £150million, with Liverpool’s opening offer worth £110million.
