Newcastle United’s search for midfield reinforcements could take them to Leeds United, with the Magpies big fans of Tyler Adams.
It was reported back in April that Eddie Howe’s side were keeping tabs on the USA international ahead of the summer transfer window. He is now likely to leave Elland Road following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League.
That could open the door for Newcastle to make a move, as the Toon recruitment team look to box clever in the search for reinforcements ahead of next season.
Newcastle impressed with Tyler Adams during St James’ Park appearance
According to the Telegraph, Newcastle have discussed a possible move for Adams since the 2022/23 Premier League season came to an end.
The report adds that Toon officials were impressed with the 24-year-old when he played at St James’ Park earlier in the year, helping Leeds to a 0-0 draw.

Adams was exceptional on that day, standing up to a mean Newcastle team and refusing to roll over. The Telegraph add that Newcastle were really impressed with Adams’ character and his combative style during the goalless draw.
The next time Adams plays at St James’ Park could be in a Newcastle shirt – if the recruitment team decide to make a move for the American. He cost Leeds £20million from RB Leipzig last summer, and could be available for less than £30million.
While Toon scouts are impressed with Adams, and he has the type of qualities that could enable him to thrive on Tyneside, it remains to be seen how much Dan Ashworth and co think he is worth.
He would be far from a marquee arrival during the summer transfer window, but could be an astute addition to Howe’s squad. Adams is a combative and tidy midfielder, and his work rate has been described as ‘incredible‘. That is exactly what Howe wants from his players, while the ability to play in a variety of different roles also makes him appealing.
