Newcastle United have no plans to sell Tino Livramento amid claims that Manchester City want to sign the defender, Geordie Boot Boys understand.

Pep Guardiola’s side are set to be in the market for a right-back this summer, after splashing out £180million on new signings in January. They brought in Nico Gonzalez, Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, with the latter two targets for Newcastle United.

Newcastle missed out on Khusanov to Manchester City, as the Premier League champions bolstered their centre-backs options.

A new right-back is next on the agenda, with Manchester City admirers of Tino Livramento.

Tino Livramento happy at Newcastle United despite Manchester City claim

But while Manchester City might be fans of the 22-year-old defender, there is no reason to believe he will be swapping St James’ Park for the Etihad Stadium any time soon.

That is according to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who has exclusively told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle United are not thinking about selling Livramento.

Geordie Boot Boys have also been told that Livramento is very happy at Newcastle United and has no plans to seek a move away.

Newcastle United bought Livramento for the present and the future

It is no surprise that Newcastle United are eager to keep Livramento at St James’ Park.

He was a major signing in the summer of 2023, with the right-back arriving from Southampton for £32million. Livramento became one of Newcastle’s most expensive signings ever, with Toon officials investing heavily in the club’s future.

It seemed like a strange decision at the time, as Eddie Howe still had Kieran Trippier playing incredibly well.

But Livramento immediately arrived to provide cover and competition, with the view to becoming Trippier’s long-term replacement at St James’ Park.

That has already happened, with Livramento establishing himself in Newcastle’s starting XI ahead of Trippier this season. He has enhanced his game since joining the Magpies, going on to make his England debut last year.

When Newcastle bought Livramento, it was with a view towards having their first choice right-back for potentially the next decade. That stance has not changed, which is why the Magpies are not considering letting him leave as he approaches two years on Tyneside.

That view is shared by Livramento, who has a contract until 2028 and is keen to continue his career in the North East.
