Newcastle United ‘sources’ refusing to deny key star will leave despite Eddie Howe’s wish

Newcastle United have big decisions to make on a number of key players heading into the summer transfer window.

With Champions League qualification now looking likely, it’s hard to imagine Newcastle United actively looking to sell any of their truly elite players.

Still, that doesn’t mean there won’t be outgoings. Sean Longstaff could be sold by Newcastle this summer, while the likes of Callum Wilson will soon see their contracts expire.

Indeed, there may be a slight changing of the guard for manager Eddie Howe in the Newcastle United squad.

Which brings us to a certain Kieran Trippier.

Newcastle United refusing to rule out Kieran Trippier exit

Howe wants to keep Trippier at Newcastle this summer, having seen the veteran defender produce some stunning form since coming back into the team.

The 34-year-old endured a difficult time of things last season but has looked the force of old in recent months.

Still, according to GIVEMESPORT, sources at the club are refusing to rule out the idea of Trippier leaving St James’ Park at the end of the season.  

Newcastle want to keep Tino Livramento amid interest from Manchester City but it seems as if Trippier’s future is more unclear.  

What could keep Kieran Trippier at Newcastle United this summer

Trippier could stay at Newcastle if they qualify for the Champions League, which looks increasingly likely.

Clearly, it’s not yet confirmed but confidence is high. They just need one win from their final two games to guarantee a spot in the Premier League’s top five.

If Howe’s side are in Europe’s elite club competition next season, keeping Trippier makes sense.

With Livramento moving back to right-back when Lewis Hall returns to full fitness, there are few better back-ups for the England international than the vastly experienced Trippier. 

Hopefully, Newcastle can seal the deal imminently.
