Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could finally leave Napoli this month, with Newcastle United joining Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign the 23-year-old.

Ever since establishing himself as a superstar in Serie A, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been linked with a move away from Napoli.

That move could finally happen in January 2025, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs eyeing up a deal for Georgian football’s biggest superstar.

PSG are the favourites to sign Kvaratskhelia, but they are not the only team in the conversation.

Weirdly, Newcastle United have been thrown into the mix, as Kvaratskhelia prepares to make his next move.

According to L’Equipe, Newcastle United could enter the race to sign Kvaratskhelia from Napoli.

However, L’Equipe add that PSG believe they can strike a deal for the attacker this month.

He will not be cheap, but his asking price has certainly been reduced since being valued at more than £100million.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli want £67million for Kvaratskhelia.

That is enough to tell you that L’Equipe’s story about Newcastle United is nonsense. That would make him Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever, at a time when the Magpies are hamstrung by PSR and must sell before they buy.

Eddie Howe wanted Kvaratskhelia in 2023

While this 2025 claim is crazy, Newcastle United are no strangers to Kvaratskhelia.

In late 2022, it was reported that Kvaratskhelia was going to be Newcastle’s top target for 2023.

That was incredibly exciting at the time, but a move never came to fruition. The Georgia international was far too expensive for Eddie Howe’s side, while his performances for Napoli made him one of the most in-demand attackers in world football.

Newcastle have the next Kvaratskhelia

It is pure fantasy to think that Newcastle United could sign Kvaratskhelia this month.

With a limited transfer budget, the Magpies are more likely to sign project players who are far from the finished article. That is Paul Mitchell’s plan, as he aims to change the way that the club operates in the transfer market.

That is already set to happen in 2025, with Newcastle signing Vakhtang Salia from Dinamo Tbilisi.

The Georgian teenager will arrive on Tyneside when he turns 18-years-old, with many people describing him as the next Kvaratskhelia.

That is incredibly exciting, and the hope will be that Salia can be just as good as his fellow Georgian. If that proves to be the case, Newcastle United will have pulled off a PSR masterstroke in the transfer market.
