As Newcastle United close in on signing Yoane Wissa, they are also looking to replace Alexander Isak – a man who has been likened to Thierry Henry.
That sums up the size of the Magpies’ task, with Alexander Isak keen to leave Newcastle United.
That will not happen unless a replacement arrives. With Benjamin Sesko heading to Manchester United, Eddie Howe is suddenly looking elsewhere for that replacement.
Newcastle are close to signing Yoane Wissa, but he will not be the Isak replacement. Instead, he will replace Callum Wilson.
As that deal edges closer towards completion, a new ‘top’ striker target to fill Isak’s boots is emerging on Tyneside.

Newcastle United turn to Randal Kolo Muani as new ‘top’ target
Having failed in an attempt to bring in Sesko from German side RB Leipzig, Howe is now looking to France and Paris Saint-Germain.
That is according to Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger on X, who claims that Randal Kolo Muani is now Newcastle United’s ‘top’ target.
He adds that the Magpies are in talks with the 26-year-old, as they aim to sign a player who had looked destined to return to Juventus after a successful loan spell with the Serie A giants.
Berger states that Newcastle do have other options, such as Ollie Watkins and Nicolas Jackson, plus Kolo Muani’s PSG teammate Goncalo Ramos.
Randal Kolo Muani has been compared to Thierry Henry, just like Alexander Isak
Throughout his Toon career, Isak has been compared to Thierry Henry.
They both have blistering pace and dribbling ability, combined with elegance and precision in front of goal. Those attributes made Henry a legend at Arsenal, and Isak was well on the way to similar status at Newcastle United until his recent actions.
As Newcastle look to replace him, they are targeting a player who has also been likened to Henry.
While he was playing for Eintracht Frankfurt, the official Bundesliga website stated that Kolo Muani played like the World Cup winner.
They wrote: “Much like Kolo Muani, legendary France striker Henry started his career by impressing with his pace and trickery out wide before being repurposed as a centre-forward. Both players also clock in around the 6’2” mark and cut very similar, rangy figures.
“Kolo Muani also has a languid dribbling style and immense turn of speed that were hallmarks of Henry’s game – especially at a young age. He bears similar strength on the ball and a cheekiness to his play that will leave Bundesliga defenders both in his wake and cutting frustrated figures.”
The one thing that does separate Kolo Muani from Isak and Henry is his goalscoring record. That is certainly an area that he can improve in.
The 2022/23 season was the only time that Kolo Muani has scored more than 20 goals, finding the net 23 times for Eintracht Frankfurt in all competitions.
His PSG career has brought 11 goals in 54 appearances, while he bagged 10 in 22 during his loan spell with Juventus.
