Newcastle United are aiming to trim their squad ahead of pre-season.

It has already been a summer of change at St James’ Park. Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson have both been sold, while Paul Mitchell has arrived to become Newcastle United’s sporting director.

There will also be an even bigger departure, with Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi set to leave Newcastle after almost three years as co-owners.

Newcastle United is becoming unrecognisable with all these changes, but more are expected. There are still numerous players who the Magpies need to sell ahead of the new season, as it is obvious that they have no future at St James’ Park.

Newcastle have three senior players who need to find new clubs

Ryan Fraser falls into that category, as he enters the final year of his Toon contract. Southampton want to sign Fraser permanently after his loan spell, but that deal is still yet to be completed.

Jamal Lewis is another player who Newcastle want to move on after a loan spell. Watford decided against a permanent deal for the left-back, and Lewis may now have to train with the Newcastle Under-21s when pre-season kicks off.

And the same goes for Isaac Hayden.

There is interest in Isaac Hayden

Hayden, who joined Newcastle in 2016 from Arsenal for £1.5million, is on the lookout for a new club.

He has two years left to run on his current Toon deal, but it is clear that he has no future on Tyneside. The 29-year-old has been loaned out three times since Eddie Howe’s arrival, and has not played for the club since December 2021.

Hayden needs a fresh start away from St James’ Park – a permanent home where he can really settle. And QPR would like to give him that opportunity after his loan spell at Loftus Road, but there is a problem.

According to the Northern Echo, QPR are interested in signing Isaac Hayden permanently from Newcastle United this summer. However, they are unable to match his current wages.

Newcastle may need to pay off Hayden

With a Newcastle contract until 2026, Hayden and the club are in a tough position. And they need to find a solution, as Hayden’s career is stalling.

He needs a club that he can call home, but that is going to be difficult given his current wage situation.

One solution would be for Newcastle to take a financial hit and pay off Hayden’s contract early, which would then allow him to find a new employer.

For Hayden’s sake, hopefully that proves to be the case. He was an outstanding player for Newcastle during a difficult period for the club, and it would be great to see him move on from the Magpies and start anew elsewhere.
