Newcastle United appear to be focussing on incomings at the moment, but there could soon be some outgoings as well.
In terms of incomings, a deal for Lloyd Kelly is very close. He is set to sign a four-year deal with the Magpies, as he prepares to be reunited with Eddie Howe.
And he could be joined at St James’ Park by James Trafford, with Newcastle already agreeing personal terms with the 21-year-old. Now it is up to Newcastle and Burnley to agree a fee, with the Magpies valuing Trafford at £18million.
While new signings are exciting, Newcastle also need to move some players on. It has been confirmed that Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett are going to be released, as well as Loris Karius, Kell Watts and Jeff Hendrick.
They were deemed to have no futures at St James’ Park, and the same goes for Ryan Fraser.

Ryan Fraser closing in on Newcastle United exit
Newcastle United are looking to get rid of Fraser this summer, as he enters the final year of his Toon contract.
The feeling is mutual, as Fraser has been very open about his desire to find a new club. In fact, he has found one, with Southampton interested in making his loan move permanent following promotion to the Premier League.
The Saints beat Leeds United in the playoff final last month, meaning Russell Martin’s side will be back in the top flight. And it could also mean that Fraser is playing Premier League football once again.
That is because the Athletic report that the 30-year-old has agreed a deal to sign for Southampton ahead of the 2024/25 season.
They add that Fraser is set to leave Newcastle United, once details are finalised between the Magpies and the Saints.
Ryan Fraser will inadvertently be back at Newcastle next season
With a deal seemingly almost in place for Fraser to finally wave goodbye to Newcastle United, it will actually not be long before he meets the Magpies again.
With Southampton back in the Premier League, Fraser will have an immediate chance to show Eddie Howe exactly what he has been missing.
The Scotland international was dropped by Howe back in February 2023, forced to train with the Under-21s after a fallout with the manager. His last Newcastle appearance came on October 19th 2022.
Now it appears that Fraser has found a new home at Southampton, which is great news for him. It is also great news for Newcastle, who desperately need to get him off the books.
Southampton winning promotion has created a perfect scenario for Newcastle, as it has made them much more likely to sign Fraser on a permanent deal. They appear to be on course to do just that, which will delight Saints boss Russell Martin.
After the playoff final win, he praised Fraser for the ‘amazing‘ impact he has had at St Mary’s, and it looks like the winger is now set to continue his career on the south coast.
