Newcastle United fans would love to see Bryan Mbeumo arrive at St James’ Park this summer.
The Magpies are in desperate need of a new right winger, despite Jacob Murphy’s incredible form.
Newcastle United need more depth out wide, which is why Paul Mitchell is scouring Europe for possible reinforcements.
But the answer to Eddie Howe’s problem could be closer to home. Bryan Mbeumo was called Newcastle’s ‘dream’ signing last year, and he is a player that is on the Magpies’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United to target Bryan Mbeumo
That is according to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about Bryan Mbeumo possibly leaving Brentford for Newcastle United in the coming months.
“I do think Newcastle United will be targeting Bryan Mbeumo,” he said.
“I think Newcastle United could be leading the chase for him at the moment.
“They like him and he could be available for a good price – possibly under £60million. He’s a good player who fits in with Eddie Howe.
“There are also players in Europe on their radar, such as Johan Bakayoko at PSV and Maghnes Akliouche at Monaco. Newcastle have already done a lot of work on these players.”
Given the season he is having, Brentford are braced for interest in Mbeumo. Newcastle United are not the only club that are keen, with Give Me Sport reporting that Nottingham Forest are interested in the Cameroon international too.
How Bryan Mbeumo compares to Jacob Murphy
Signing a right winger this summer has become much harder due to Jacob Murphy’s form.
The 30-year-old has defied belief with his performances, often hogging the spotlight despite playing alongside superstars like Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
- Who is Jacob Murphy? The Newcastle United star who has transformed under Eddie Howe
Murphy has been clinical in the final third, helping himself to 21 goal contributions in all competitions. His relationship with Isak has produced so many goals, and that is a factor that must be considered when Newcastle decide who to recruit.
Whoever arrives must be able to replicate what Murphy has been doing.
| Appearances | Goals | Assists | |
| Jacob Murphy | 36 | 9 | 13 |
| Bryan Mbeumo | 37 | 18 | 7 |
In terms of output, Mbeumo is actually having an even more productive season than Murphy.
He also has the Premier League experience that Eddie Howe craves, while there is plenty of scope for him to get even better at the age of 25-years-old.
Mbeumo could also fill two voids, as he has proven at Brentford that he is also capable of operating centrally as a striker. That could make him even more appealing to Newcastle United.
