Newcastle United haven’t had the best luck in recent transfer windows.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has done wonders for his side given the circumstances. He’s done remarkably well to lift his side up to fifth in the Premier League table having barely seen any new signings in the summer.
Lewis Hall was the only signing that has consistently played in the Magpies’ starting XI this season. Paul Mitchell’s failure to land Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace was a sign that something had to change.
Change has already arrived, Mitchell has implored Newcastle to recruit youth across Europe to find hidden gems and avoid more difficulties with Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Newcastle have already signed Kyle Fitzgerald and Vakhtang Salia from clubs outside of England – they’re considered players for the future rather than stars who can come in and perform in Newcastle’s first-team squad.
Now, reports suggest that Newcastle could make a January move for a former Real Madrid star who is now making a big impact in Spain.

Newcastle eyeing January move for Yeremay Hernandez
Yeremay Hernandez has enjoyed a fine first half of the season for La Liga 2 side Deportivo La Coruna despite the Spanish side sitting 17th in the table.
The 22-year-old has scored eight times in 18 appearances this season – his form has attracted interest from all across Europe.
According to AS, Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester City are all interested in signing the winger in January.
The report also states that Serie A side AC Milan are also keen on signing Hernandez who spent two years at Real Madrid between 2015 and 2017.
Hernandez has made 77 appearances for the former La Liga side, scoring 16 goals and bagging 8 assists.
He has also represented Spain at under-21 level and was on the bench for his national side game against England in November which featured Toon midfielder Lewis Miley as well as Newcastle targets Tyler Dibling and James McAtee.
Hernandez has a £17million release clause, a fee which wouldn’t break the bank for Newcastle, even in a PSR-driven world.
The 22-year-old is versatile, he mainly plays as a left winger but can play as a central midfielder or as a right winger, a position Howe is desperate to improve.
Hernandez compared to Newcastle wingers
Newcastle aren’t short of quality on the left side of attack, it’s the right that has suffered in recent years. Although Jacob Murphy arguably playing his best football since joining Newcastle, there’s a desire for more quality and depth in that position.
| Player | Appearances (League) | Goals | Assists |
| Yeremay Hernandez | 18 | 8 | 3 |
| Anthony Gordon | 19 | 5 | 4 |
| Harvey Barnes | 20 | 5 | 1 |
| Jacob Murphy | 17 | 3 | 7 |
| Miguel Almiron | 7 | 0 | 0 |
Hernandez has scored more goals than every Newcastle winger this season, but Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy boast a better assist tally.
Hernandez is known for his quickness and ability to confidently win a one-on-one – Howe will be keen to add another player who can handle the intense football he likes to play.
