Newcastle United injury updates, latest news and potential return dates for the 2024/25 season.

Eddie Howe was often limited by a number of injuries last season and that has sadly continued into the new campaign.

Newcastle United currently have several long-term absences as well as other players who have missed games due to picking up knocks.

Here’s the Magpies’ current injury list and when the four sidelined stars could be back in action.

Dan Burn was forced off the field with what looked like a serious groin injury during the FA Cup victory over Birmingham City. Thankfully, the Daily Mail reports, the centre-back’s issue is not worst as initially feared and he shouldn’t be out for too long.

Potential return date: 22/2/2025

Sven Botman – Knee

Sven Botman didn’t even make the trip to the Midlands due to the knee issue he picked up in the Carabao Cup win over Arsenal but scans have also returned positive for the Dutchman.

Potential return date: March

Harvey Barnes – Thigh

Winger Harvey Barnes is set to miss a month of action with a thigh injury.

Latest update: Howe said on January 14: “Harvey will be missing for a period of time. We don’t think it’s a serious injury but it’s enough to keep him out for a few weeks, we’re probably looking at around a month. That’s the early assessment. It’s an injury to the muscle in his thigh.”

Potential return date: 15/2/2025

Jamaal Lascelles – ACL

Botman isn’t the only defender recovering from a serious knee injury as Jamaal Lascelles is also on the comeback trail.

The captain suffered an ACL tear in March and isn’t expected back until the new year at the earliest.

Latest update: Howe said on August 7: “[Lascelles and Botman] are longer-term with knee injuries, but we hope maybe towards the end of the year that they’ll be closer.”

Potential return date: 1/1/2025
