Newcastle United were not able to sign anyone during the January transfer window.

In fact, it’s seemed an age since Newcastle United were able to strengthen their first-team at all.

Still, there is a hope that some of the frustrations over the club’s spending power will soon be a thing of the past.

Indeed, Newcastle believe they are in a strong position to spend this summer, having kept their powder pretty dry since the summer of 2023 all while selling players.

Clearly, there’s a lot of football still to play between now and then but it will be fascinating to see what Newcastle do at the end of the season.

One of the names who could be of interest is Celtic right-winger, Nicolas Kuhn.

How Newcastle United really feel about Nicolas Kuhn’s price tag at Celtic

Newcastle are believed to have scouted Kuhn this season and a fresh report from the Daily Mail has moved the story on somewhat.

They claim scouts were in attendance during Celtic’s Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich earlier this week to run the rule over the 25-year-old.

There is said to be expectation the German will move on at the end of the season, with Celtic reportedly looking for at least £20million.

Still, there is said to be a feeling that even paying that kind of money would represent decent value.

Nicolas Kuhn compared to Newcastle United star Jacob Murphy

Jacob Murphy is in fine form for Newcastle this season, though it would be reactive to suggest the club do not need to strengthen at right-wing at some point.

While the Premier League has to be considered a higher standard than the Scottish Premiership, Kuhn’s statistics are promising.

The Celtic star – who has scored 10 goals while registering six assists in 15 league starts – produces more in the way of shots, key passes and dribbles per game than Murphy.

That doesn’t necessarily make him a better player but, for not a huge amount of money, Kuhn does potentially look a worthy investment.
