Lloyd Kelly’s rather strange few years could be set to continue if former Newcastle United transfer target Marc Guehi leaves Crystal Palace this summer.
Newcastle tried and failed to sign Guehi in 2024, having already brought Kelly to the club on a free transfer from Bournemouth.
Guehi eventually remained at Crystal Palace but could now leave the Eagles this summer.
Liverpool want to sign Guehi and the England international has just a year left on his contract.
The Reds have inflicted misery on Newcastle this summer by signing Hugo Ekitike while attempting to land Alexander Isak. To see Guehi end up at Anfield would be another bitter blow.
Palace, meanwhile, could be set to turn their attentions to the aforementioned Kelly.

Crystal Palace interested in Lloyd Kelly
In a strange twist of fate, Kelly could actually be an option to replace Guehi at Selhurst Park.
The Guardian suggest the former Bournemouth star, who joined Italian giants Juventus from Newcastle in January on loan before the deal later became permanent, is considered a target.
Liverpool are said to be leading the chase to sign Guehi but are yet to meet Palace’s £40million valuation.
Lloyd Kelly has struggled at Juventus
The Italian media have been scathing about Kelly’s performances for Juventus at times.
Indeed, Kelly was described as a “disastrous” signing for Juve not long after making the move to Serie A.
In total, the 26-year-old has made 19 appearances for the Turin titans. Sunderland have also been linked with Kelly, though now appear to have turned their attention towards other targets.

It has been a strange year or so for Kelly. At the time, he looked like a sensible signing for Newcastle on a free transfer but he’s struggled for consistency since.
If he were to end up replacing Guehi at Palace, it would only add to a chaotic period in his career.
