Yoane Wissa has shocked football fans by dropping a statement confirming his intentions to leave Brentford after two bids from Newcastle United were rejected.

While Eddie Howe has had to deal with the draining Alexander Isak saga throughout the summer transfer window, Keith Andrews has been forced to handle Yoane Wissa’s desperation to leave Brentford.

On Sunday morning, Wissa dropped a bombshell statement confirming that he wants to leave Brentford before the summer transfer window closes.

It was reported that Brentford are now asking for £65m from Newcastle United for Wissa. So the Magpies are likely to back out of the deal to pursue other targets.

Wissa has followed in Isak’s footsteps by putting out a statement. The 28-year-old had already removed any mention of Brentford from his social media platforms, but has now taken things a step further by sharing a long statement where he claims there were written assurances that he could go if a reasonable offer came in.

With the DR Congo forward’s feelings known, Newcastle fans have taken to social media to share their view on the bombshell statement.

Newcastle United fans shocked at Yoane Wissa’s transfer statement

Newcastle want to sign a new striker this summer, but it has to be the right player for a price which does not break the bank. Reports suggest that Jorgen Strand Larsen is still on Newcastle’s radar, but the 25-year-old has been told he cannot leave Wolves this summer, despite politely requesting to leave.

Wissa has made his feelings known, and now the Newcastle fans have shared their views on social media.

“Really don’t like this. Isak 2.0, I hope we walk away from it and Brentford put him in his place,” said one fan on X, while another added: “Trash from these players and agents. Don’t want him.”

This fan thinks Newcastle should look for another striker, saying: “Can’t be a—- with players like that to be honest. Had enough of self-entitlement with Isak, we don’t need another. Go for JSL.”

“Hopefully we can sign Larsen. We don’t need Wissa’s shocking attitude at the club.”

Another fan added: “Honestly, why would we want someone who behaves like this? We’ve already got a man child, we don’t need another.”

Finally, this Newcastle fan said: “Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot more respectful than Alex’s was, but it’s almost exactly the same situation. Not sure how I feel about replacing Alex with somebody who’s done the very same thing he’s done to us to his own fans.”

The big difference between Alexander Isak and Yoane Wissa’s statements

Both players believe that promises have been broken by their respective clubs, with agreements over a move the reasons listed in their statements.

Wissa claims that his assurances were in writing, while Isak did not appear to prove he could provide the same. Both deals have their significance, with Newcastle being in great position to compete if they signed Wissa, while Isak joining Liverpool would see Newcastle bank a British record transfer fee and give them a significant PSR boost for years to come.

While both statements were telling in their own right, Wissa found the time to mention the fans on multiple occasions in his.

While Isak can claim he mentioned the fans by writing “everyone at Newcastle United who has supported me along the way.”

Even if he does not get his move away, fans will never forget what Isak has done this summer, and will need to do a lot of work before he can regain their trust even slightly.

It remains to be seen whether both players will get their moves away with such little time left in the transfer window.
