Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has made an exciting transfer claim before a deal for Nick Woltemade is confirmed.
With Alexander Isak still refusing to rejoin training, it was clear that a new striker needed to be signed. After the recent misfortune with Jorgen Strand Larsen, Newcastle United are now set to sign promising young forward Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart.
The 23-year-old has arrived on Tyneside and has taken his medical on Friday morning ahead of a club record move.
Woltemade is costing Newcastle £69million, so there is an expectation for him to be a success at his new club, but the main thing is that a quality young striker is arriving to replace either Callum Wilson or Isak.
The summer transfer window has been positive for Newcastle, despite the Isak transfer saga. But it appears Eddie Howe is not done yet, according to his latest comments.

Eddie Howe makes fresh Newcastle United transfer claim
Howe has been bombarded with questions over the Isak saga over recent weeks, but his recruitment team have been hard at work behind the scenes to get him the players he needs to be successful this season.
While several players have left, many others have joined in their place. Fans will argue that those signings are improvements on the ones who have left, but depth is still a minor issue.
Midfield is one area which could do with another body or two. Joelinton and Sandro Tonali’s injury worries against Liverpool were signs of how quickly situations can sour.
Thankfully, Howe is still hopeful that more additions can be made before the transfer window closes on Monday.
“We’re still active, we’re still looking. Nick Woltemade is close, but we know we need to add more quality before the deadline,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

Newcastle United fans react to Eddie Howe’s transfer claim
While Howe did initially say that Newcastle are still active, he appeared to backtrack slightly and say that the finances must be assessed before seeing whether another deal can be done.
Either way, fans will be latching onto his initial comments, hoping that it only means good things for the end of Newcastle’s transfer window.
“That’s what we want to hear, keep pushing as we will take all we can get ahead of what will be a busy season, what started off challenging, now looks like a very tidy window,” said one Newcastle fan, reacting to Howe’s comments on X, while another added: “I still think Wissa gets done.”
This fan looked at the possible outgoings after Howe’s comments, saying: “On a more serious point, I think it’s a sign that Eddie is acknowledging Isak is imminently leaving.”
“Look what Isak could have been part of,” said this let-down Newcastle fan.
Another fan added: “So you’re saying there might be… MORE?!”
Finally, this Newcastle fan said: “Gotta respect Eddie, great coach and he’s been much more respectful towards Isak than most of your fanbase and even some players.”
