Newcastle United fans are finally welcoming a new signing to the club, with Antonio Cordero’s arrival confirmed.
It has been announced that Antonio Cordero will join Newcastle United when his Malaga contract expires.
The Magpies have high hopes for Cordero. He has a lot of potential, with Real Madrid and Barcelona showing an interest before Eddie Howe’s side completed a deal.
The 18-year-old will become the 10th Spanish player to represent Newcastle United, following the likes of Joselu, Mikel Merino and Albert Luque.

Newcastle United fans liken Antonio Cordero to Ayoze Perez
But it is actually Ayoze Perez who Newcastle United fans are comparing Antonio Cordero to.
Following the club’s official announcement on Cordero, Toon supporters on X (formerly known as Twitter) are likening the teenager to a previously unknown talent who arrived at St James’ Park from Tenerife in June 2014.
One Newcastle United fan wrote: “Ayoze Perez regen finally.”
Another supporter added: “Great signing for the academy, low risk and gives me Ayoze Perez vibes getting a Spanish player from Segunda.”
“Ayoze Perez vibes, love it,” commented a third member of the Toon Army.
“Please tell me this is Ayoze Perez v2,” wrote this Newcastle fan.
“Got an Ayoze Perez aura about him,” claimed another supporter.
Finally, this Newcastle United fan proclaimed: “Ayoze Perez is back.”
What Newcastle United plan to do with Antonio Cordero
When Newcastle United signed Perez in 2014, he was immediately thrust into the first-team.
Alan Pardew and John Carver used Perez 39 times between them in the 2014/15 season, with the attacker scoring seven goals.
In total, Perez made 195 appearances for the Magpies, scoring 48 goals. He would leave in the summer of 2019, with Leicester City activating his £30million release clause.
Newcastle will love it if Cordero has a similar impact in black and white. However, Toon fans should not expect to see the Spaniard playing in the Premier League as soon as they saw Perez.
In their official statement, Newcastle United confirmed that Cordero is likely to be loaned out following his arrival from Malaga.
It has been reported that Cordero could join Ajax.
Newcastle are no strangers to loaning players out to the Eredivisie in recent years. We have seen Yankuba Minteh, Garang Kuol and Mirodag Pivas join Feyenoord, Volendam and Willem II respectively with varying degrees of success.
