Newcastle United want to bolster their attacking options in January and they may have found the perfect player in the Bundesliga.
Despite winning three of their first four games, it didn’t feel like Newcastle had hit the ground running at the start of the season.
Alexander Isak wasn’t firing and wins were being scraped thanks to late goals after initially going behind. Things couldn’t be more different now with the Magpies winning their last four Premier League games having not conceded in any of them. Newcastle’s win at Manchester United ensured they finished the win on a high.

While Isak is also in top form there is a lack of solid replacements should he get injured or need a rest. Callum Wilson is out for several weeks with a hamstring problem while summer signing William Osula is yet to set the world alight.
Toon boss Eddie Howe wants a striker in January – Now, Newcastle has found someone who would be a fantastic backup or replacement for Isak, he’s even scored more goals than him this season.

Newcastle keeping tabs on Omar Marmoush
Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush has enjoyed a great start to the season scoring 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga games. His fine form has attracted the interest of Premier League sides including Arsenal and Liverpool.
According to CaughtOffside, Newcastle are now also eyeing a move for Marmoush as they look to bolster their depth up front.
Arsenal are considered the frontrunner for the 25-year-old who has been involved in 30 goals across all competitions this campaign. The Gunners have also been linked to Isak but Newcastle’s valuation makes a move for Marmoush more financially viable for Mikel Arteta.
The report suggests that recent contract talks have stalled between the player and club, making a move away from Germany possible for Marmoush.
For Newcastle, Wilson is out of contract at the end of the season so Marmoush would immediately fill the void his departure would leave.
Omar Marmoush compared to Alexander Isak
Signing Marmoush, who is seen as the ‘next Mohamed Salah’ (Forbes), is a big task for sporting director Paul Mitchell, but pulling it off would show Newcastle are big players in the transfer window.
Isak’s form has been exceptional in recent weeks, he’s Newcastle’s top scorer in the Premier League netting 12 times.
| Appearances (all competitions) | Goals | Assists | |
| Alexander Isak | 20 | 13 | 4 |
| Omar Marmoush | 24 | 18 | 12 |
However, Marmoush has scored and assisted more than Isak so far this season despite failing to score in his previous three games.
The Egyptian, who has been hailed as ‘the next Mohamed Salah’ can also play on the left wing and in a more attacking midfield role if necessary.
