Newcastle United remain in talks over a move for James Trafford, though could let one of his friends leave the club this summer.
Newcastle hope to sign Trafford imminently, and a positive conclusion on that front would spell an end to a pursuit that has lasted almost a year now.
Still, while much of the focus will be on the players who come into Newcastle United this summer, the club also need to see players leave during the transfer window.
Callum Wilson is likely to leave Newcastle, while the likes of Joe Willock have been tipped to depart too.
Another of those who could go is Joe White.

Joe White could leave Newcastle United this summer
White is good friends with Trafford, although he may not be part of the Newcastle United squad if the Burnley goalkeeper does eventually arrive.
According to The Chronicle, there’s now a “feeling” that White could leave for a team further down the footballing pyramid.
The 22-year-old Newcastle United academy graduate made his Premier League debut against Bournemouth in February 2024 but spent last season on loan at MK Dons.
White joined the academy nine years ago in 2016.
Newcastle United set to cash in on academy graduates
Selling academy players is a good way to balance the books when it comes to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Clearly, cashing in on academy players isn’t always ideal. Newcastle didn’t want to sell Elliot Anderson, but had to so they didn’t risk a PSR breach.
Still, and while White is unlikely to command a huge fee if he does leave, any money received for him would go down as ‘pure profit’.
Fellow academy graduate Sean Longstaff could also leave the club this summer. Newcastle are open to selling Longstaff, who has been linked with the likes of Everton and Leeds.
