Karl Darlow‘s Newcastle United future remains up in the air, with a move away before the end of the month possibly on the horizon.
The 32-year-old looked to be going nowhere, but that all changed when Martin Dubravka returned. His loan deal at Manchester United was terminated, meaning the Magpies suddenly had five senior goalkeepers.
It has since been claimed that Dubravka is going to stay put for the second half of the season, meaning one of Loris Karius or Darlow would likely leave.
The German stopper has since signed a contract extension at St James’ Park, meaning all signs pointed towards Darlow departing.
There have been reports stating that he will be allowed to leave, while i News have claimed that he has agreed a loan deal with Hull City. They report that all the paperwork has been completed for Darlow to join the Championship club.

It looks like Humberside is set to be Darlow’s new home, but his stance over a move away from St James’ Park is admirable.
Karl Darlow wants best deal for Newcastle
According to the Chronicle, Darlow has told Toon boss Eddie Howe that he will do whatever is best for Newcastle, rather than his own career. He is seemingly happy to continue as backup at SJP rather than play first-team football elsewhere – if that is what the club need.
It feels like Darlow’s future would have been resolved right now had it not been for the Carabao Cup. Newcastle are still in the competition, and one game away from Wembley.
However, the Magpies are unable to use Dubravka in the competition. He is cup-tied after appearing for Manchester United.
That is why Darlow was on the bench on Tuesday night, and could be a reason for Newcastle to force him to stay put during the January transfer window.
If he does go, it will mean Karius is promoted to second-choice for the cup, and would be on the bench at Wembley if we get past Southampton next week.
That is the dilemma for Howe, who must now decide whether or not he is happy for Darlow to leave. According to the Chronicle, the goalkeeper has made his stance clear, and just wants what is best for Newcastle United.
Considering he has only played one competitive game this season, that is an admirable decision.
