Newcastle United reportedly want to sign Andrey Santos from Vasco Da Gama, and the Magpies are also keen on his teammate Eguinaldo.

90min have claimed that Eddie Howe’s side are confident they can sign Santos in 2023. And he isn’t the only Brazilian teenager they are targeting.

The report adds that Newcastle also like the look of Santos’ teammate Eguinaldo. He is also 18-years-old, and is a forward.

Eguinaldo signed for Vasco during the summer after a loan spell, and has scored three times this season for the first-team.

He is another player being tipped to be a star of the future, and has been described as ‘one of the gems‘ of Vasco’s youth setup by Brazilian website Gazeta Esportiva.

The youngster shares that honour with Santos, who has been likened to Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets. The Brazilian club clearly have some great talent within their ranks, and Newcastle want to bring said talent to Tyneside.

Newcastle want to beef up youth ranks as Eguinaldo eyed

According to 90min, Newcastle have enquired about possibly signing Eguinaldo. However, the Magpies’ interest in him is not as advanced as their move to sign Santos.

But 90min claim there is a chance that could change in the coming weeks.

It is very clear that Newcastle are trying to beef up their youth ranks with talent from all over the globe. Eguinaldo is just the latest youngster from Brazil to be linked with joining the Magpies. There have also been rumours about Angelo, Geovani and the aforementioned Santos.

It was recently reported by i News that Newcastle want to target the South American market after signing Garang Kuol from Australia, and that appears to be exactly what is happening.

Sporting Director Dan Ashworth is helping build a club for the present and the future. A lot of his signings will not have an impact for a few years, but he is normally on the money with his recruitment.

We saw it time and time again at Brighton. They had so many talented youngsters within their squad, and now many of them have become Premier League regulars.

That will be the dream for the players Ashworth brings to Newcastle, including Eguinaldo.

As an attacker who can play anywhere across the forward line, Eguinaldo’s versatility could serve him well. He is certainly one to watch, especially if a deal for his teammate Santos is completed.
