Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Anthony Gordon again, after the Magpies failed with a £35million bid in the summer.
The Everton youngster was a man in demand at the start of the season. Eddie Howe made a move for the winger, but it was Chelsea who came closest to signing him.
It was reported in August that the Blues were willing to pay £60million to bring Gordon to Stamford Bridge. Incredibly, he remained at Goodison Park.
Fast forward a few months and the 21-year-old’s stock has dropped, with Everton in turmoil. Frank Lampard’s side are 19th in the Premier League, with major unrest from fans making the Toffees reminiscent of Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United.
Now the Magpies could capitalise on the chaos, with the Telegraph stating that Gordon is back on Dan Ashworth’s radar. And the Daily Mail have provided a further update on Newcastle’s interest in a player who Alan Shearer thinks is ‘fearless‘.

Newcastle consider fresh Anthony Gordon approach
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle feel that Everton will now be more willing to sell Gordon than they were at the start of the season.
The report adds that Lampard’s side need to sell to buy this month, and it is very clear that they need reinforcements ahead of their battle to avoid relegation.
That could open the door for Newcastle to sign Gordon – a player who often ruffles feathers whenever he plays at St James’ Park.
He clashed with Jonjo Shelvey and Kieran Trippier at the beginning of last year, and he caused a brawl on Tyneside earlier this season too.
Gordon is not popular among the Toon Army, and would have to get off to an impressive start to win over the crowd.
But the talent is certainly there. While he is struggling this season, Gordon has the raw ability to be a force in the Premier League. And with Howe’s coaching, he could really start to achieve that potential.
If Gordon does arrive, we must trust that the recruitment team on Tyneside see something in him, and back the club’s decision. They have never let us down over the past year when it comes to new signings.
