Newcastle United could be set to miss out on Todd Cantwell. The midfielder is reportedly in talks to join Championship side Bournemouth on loan.
According to The Telegraph’s John Percy, the Cherries are in discussions to land the 23-year-old, which would be a big boost to their promotion hopes.

Currently, they sit third in the table and are just a point behind Blackburn Rovers.
Cantwell has made just eight appearances for Norwich this season.
The Englishman has had injury troubles, and has featured just three times under new boss Dean Smith.
Cantwell is supposedly expected to leave Carrow Road before tomorrow night’s transfer deadline. There is apparently also interest from Greek giants Olympiacos.
Percy mentions the fact that Newcastle have been interested in Cantwell earlier in the window. The Telegraph reported there was a chance he could have become the club’s second signing after Kieran Trippier.

It remains to be seen if the Magpies make a hijack attempt to land Cantwell ahead of Bournemouth.
Newcastle have been trying to sign Jesse Lingard, but have face difficulty because of Manchester United’s demands.
Supposedly the Red Devils want a loan fee. They also want his wages covered in full and a bonus should Newcastle stay in the Premier League.
Todd Cantwell to Newcastle appears to be unlikely as Bournemouth open loan talks
It looks as though Todd Cantwell could be ready to drop down a division as Eddie Howe’s former club holds loan talks with the attacking midfielder.
There is still potential for Newcastle to perhaps get involved.

But time is seriously against the Magpies now. And one would imagine the new owners would much prefer to land someone with more experience like Lingard.
Cantwell’s lack of football this season would make him a risk. That said, he showed he is Premier League quality in the 2019/20 season, with ex-Canaries striker Chris Sutton branding him ‘an exceptional, exceptional player’ at the end of the campaign (BBC Radio 5 Live, June 2020).
