Newcastle United will have to pay a ridiculous fee if they want to sign Jesse Lingard.
The Magpies have been pushing hard for the Manchester United man, but it looks like our chase is going to end in disappointment.
Newcastle have been trying to sign Lingard on loan until the end of the season, but a deal is complicated with his contract set to expire in the summer.
Man United want a decent fee for their player, as letting him go on loan would be them effectively allowing him to leave on a free in June.

However, the amount of money they want is just ridiculous.
Jesse Lingard would cost Newcastle £15million in total
According to the Daily Mail, the deal is on the brink of collapse with Newcastle and Man United unable to agree a price. And that’s no surprise considering how much the Red Devils apparently want.
The report states that with a loan fee, survival bonus and all of his wages, a loan deal for Lingard would cost the Magpies £15million in total. That is a crazy amount not to even buy a player.

Man United are completely pricing Lingard out of a move away. It’s frustrating for Newcastle, who are desperate to sign the 29-year-old. It must be frustrating for Lingard too, who has spent his full career at Old Trafford.
Now he wants to leave, and this is how they treat him.
With the fee that is being reported, it’s no surprise that Newcastle have said no. This is a glorious example of teams overcharging Newcastle simply because of their newfound wealth.
We’ve only got 17 games left this season. Newcastle would be paying almost £1million-a-game for the midfielder.

It would be worth it if we stay up, but that’s not the point.
To ask for so much money just for a loan is absolutely ludicrous. For now, it looks like this deal is completely off. But with the unpredictable nature of the transfer window, there is every chance that things may change before the deadline.
Newcastle could succumb to Man United’s demands, or they lower the price. But at the moment, Lingard won’t be wearing a black and white shirt in the second half of the season. Instead, he’ll be sitting on the bench counting down the days until his contract expires.
