Newcastle United are set to be in the market for a left-back this summer, and a new target has emerged in Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco.
According to Inter Live, Newcastle could make a move for Dimarco if their bid to sign Kieran Tierney collapses.
It has been reported that Eddie Howe will look to sign a new left-back ahead of next season, as it has been a bit of a problem position during the current campaign.
Dan Burn has done very well out there, but he is better suited to operating in the heart of defence. As for Matt Targett, he has struggled with injury after making his loan move from Aston Villa permament.
That is why Howe is looking for alternatives, with Tierney the top target. The Scotland international could be available for £25million, having fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

However, there is no guarantee that he moves to St James’ Park, which is why the Magpies are ensuring they have other options on their radar.
Newcastle could turn to Federico Dimarco
Inter Live have suggested that Newcastle could turn to the 25-year-old if they are unable to sign Tierney.
The Italian has developed into a key player for Simone Inzaghi this season, barely missing a game on the left-hand side. Dimarco has failed to feature in just four of Inter’s 35 games this season, and boasts 25 starts.
He has been productive down the Inter Milan left, and currently has four goals and five assists to his name. Those are impressive numbers, and make him a much more enticing attacking outlet than Newcastle’s current left-sided options.
However, Dimarco does have the benefit of playing higher up the pitch. He is Inter Milan’s resident left wing-back, with Inzaghi always using a 3-5-2 formation.
That could be an issue for Newcastle, with Howe consistently using a 4-3-3 system at St James’ Park.
Reports like this from Italy are always curious, and very rarely go anywhere. Regardless, we would much rather see Tierney make the move to Newcastle United than Dimarco.
