Newcastle United are apparently interested in a move for Amadou Diawara.

According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Football Italia, the Magpies are keen on the Guinea international from AS Roma.

Roma are supposedly ready to cash in on the 24-year-old.

Newcastle are not the only Premier League side to have shown interest.

Apparently, Wolverhampton Wanderers are also in the mix.

Newcastle are said to have contacted sporting director Tiago Pinto about the player, who has a contract with the Serie A club until 2024.

The news comes amid a breakthrough regarding Joe Willock.

An agreement between Newcastle and Arsenal was reached on Sunday, and today, personal terms were finally agreed.

The club are now racing against the clock to get him signed up to be available for the West Ham United game. New players must be registered by 12pm tomorrow.

Willock and Diawara would revitalise Newcastle’s midfield

It looks as though Willock will complete his move to St. James’ Park after all.

It should have been done weeks ago, but it is what it is now.

Newcastle can’t leave it there. Following Willock straight up with Diawara would be a great turnaround in what has been a poor window so far.

The star is a busy ball-winner, but also good technically.

He’d add legs and physicality to that midfield, and would potentially work very well in there with Willock and either Jonjo Shelvey or Isaac Hayden.
