Newcastle United are again being linked with a move for Rafa Silva.
The Sunday Mirror (27/06, page 74) have reported the Magpies are leading the race for the Benfica star, who has been drawing attention at Euro 2020.

Silva has made a two substitute appearances at the tournament so far.
He completely changed the game for Portugal in their opening game against Hungary. He won a penalty and set up Cristiano Ronaldo’s second that day.
Newcastle are said to be back in the picture for Silva after being linked in 2020, with Benfica supposedly keen to sell.
The player’s agents have been in contact with several sides. Newcastle claimed to be at the top of the list.

However, a deal could be far from easy.
Silva is valued at around £30 million by his club.
If that is true, then some serious negotiation would be required.
It has been reported the Magpies have a budget of £50 million this summer, and it’s difficult to see the club spending such an amount one on player.
Newcastle won’t pay £30 million for Silva
There is surely no chance of Newcastle forking out a whole £30 million on Silva.
In 182 appearances for Benfica, he has scored 46 goals and made 32 assists – those numbers don’t warrant such a valuation.

At that price, it would just be too much of a gamble for Newcastle.
He’s a good player, capable of making things happen and he is versatile.
He’d arguably be a good signing, but some considerable negotiation would be required for it to be worthwhile.
