The agent of Sven Botman has suggested his client will decide between AC Milan and Newcastle United in the summer.

The centre-back was the Magpies’ top target coming into the January window.

Unfortunately, Lille’s asking price proved too high, prompting Newcastle to turn to other targets like Diego Carlos.

The player was reported to be open to a move to St. James’ Park.

But ultimately, a move failed to materialise because his club were reluctant to lose him.

It was reported the reigning French champions wanted around £46 million for the 22-year-old.

Newcastle fans hoping Botman will make a move to St. James’ Park in the future will be pleased to hear new comments made by the player’s agent.

Nikkie Bruinenberg told Voetbal International (via Football Italia): “Sven isn’t afraid to take a risk. I am sure that he will make the right decision over the summer. Milan and Newcastle are both big clubs.

“We mustn’t make the mistake of thinking Newcastle would only be an economic choice. They are starting to create a good project there, while Milan are a very prestigious club.”

These comments from Bruinenberg follow Botman also saying that Newcastle were working on a great project.

The pair have certainly fuelled speculation that the Netherlands U21 international will be on the move in the next window.

Sven Botman is there for the taking for Newcastle, after agent comments

Botman is clearly interesting in signing for Newcastle.

The Magpies likely would have got him in a summer window. It is understandable that Lille did not want to lose him mid-season. He is obviously a key player for them.

AC Milan will be big competition. They remain a huge club, and many a Dutch player has gone there in the past and done well.

But Newcastle can blow the Rossoneri out of the water if they need to.

The club have just got to retain their Premier League status. Otherwise, a move for Botman is probably a non-starter. Survive, and this is a summer deal that could be wrapped up quite quickly given everything that’s already happened.
