Newcastle transfer news: Robin Gosens to seal Inter loan, £18 million payment this summer

Newcastle United’s hopes of landing Robin Gosens appear to be all but over, with the player set to join Inter Milan.

The Magpies have been looking at strengthening at left-back, with the Germany international supposedly on the club’s radar.

But it looks like Newcastle have lost this particular race.

Watford Hiring Roy Hodgson Is A Joke.

Last night, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Inter’s proposed move for Gosens is now down to ‘a matter of details’.

Personal terms are to be discussed today, but it’s thought there won’t be any issues.

The deal is in the final stages, and Inter will reportedly land Gosens on loan initially. The Serie A reigning champions and league leaders will then pay £18 million to make the move permanent this summer. The deal also includes bonuses.

Newcastle also looked at Mitchel Bakker, but reports have suggested the Dutchman won’t be moving to St. James’ Park.

Yesterday, there was a claim that Newcastle are in for Sassuolo left-back Rogerio. It remains to be seen if anything comes of that.

It has all become very frantic for Newcastle now.

Only two players have been signed so far in Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood. The transfer deadline is on Monday, and several new faces are required.

Failure to ensure this could see Newcastle really struggle to retain their Premier League status later this year.

Another one bites the dust for Newcastle as Robin Gosens set for Inter transfer

So Newcastle appear to have missed out on Gosens to Inter.

Realistically, this was always going to be a hard deal to do.

Gosens has been with Atalanta since 2017, and there is a good chance he feels very settled in Italy.

Moving to the current champions of Italy probably makes a lot of sense for him.

Inter are also in the Champions League, although they do face a tough tie against Liverpool in the last 16.

Newcastle obviously have the means of putting together attractive financial packages. Indeed, it was claimed PIF were willing to quadruple Gosens’ wages. But it seems in this case, the lure of a huge club fighting for trophies was too much to compete with.
