Talks over a new contract have reportedly broken down between Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona.
As things currently stand, the Frenchman is set to leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season as a free agent.
Barca has been endeavouring to tie him down to a new deal.
But it seems the Spanish heavyweights are having hard time with it.
Last night, reports surfaced that talks between player and club have now broken down.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano says the situation is now ‘very complicated’ and ‘in real danger’.
Supposedly, Barca were told they are not able to give Dembele the salary he wants.
In another tweet, Romano reported that there are two English clubs currently on his tail amid the breakdown of talks with Barcelona.
He says that they have both approached Dembele to sign as a free agent and have offered big salaries.
Romano went on to say Newcastle are not the only team from the Premier League interested. That would suggest the Magpies have indeed made an approach.
Newcastle have been linked with a move for the former Borussia Dortmund player since the takeover went through in October.
He was supposedly open to joining the club, and he has remained linked with a move to the mega-rich Magpies.
It remains to be seen if Newcastle now try and make a move for Dembele, amid Barca’s struggles to tie him down.

It would be a real surprise.
Although he clearly doesn’t like what Barca are offering right now, it is difficult to see him making a move to Newcastle as the club battles relegation.
Perhaps recruitment officials will be tempted to try and lure him.
But Romano has suggested he will leave Barca as a free agent.
It could be that Newcastle wait on this until the summer. If the club is still in the Premier League, then a move for the electric Frenchman could well happen.
