Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney is reportedly open to a move to Newcastle United during the summer transfer window.

That is according to the Chronicle, who believe that Tierney is willing to sign for Newcastle if his situation at the Emirates does not change in the coming months.

The Scotland international is now Arsenal’s second choice left-back. The arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko has pushed him down the pecking order, and he is no longer a guaranteed starter for Mikel Arteta.

That could force him to leave the Gunners at the end of the season, regardless of whether or not he becomes a Premier League champion.

It was recently reported that Newcastle could make a move for the 25-year-old, and now the Chronicle have provided some more information.

Kieran Tierney offered to Newcastle this summer

The Chronicle add that Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Tierney by his representatives. And they state that he would be interested in a move to St James’ Park if he remains on the fringes in North London. Tierney has only started four Premier League games so far this season.

Left-back is certainly a position Eddie Howe will be looking to improve in very soon. Matt Targett has struggled for fitness this season, meaning Dan Burn has played the majority of the season there.

While Burn has been brilliant, he is not a long-term solution. He also fails to add much going forward, unless it’s a Carabao Cup quarter final…

Tierney would add more competition down Newcastle’s left, and he is the type of player that fans would love to see join the club ahead of next season.

He is defensively solid and can get forward too. That is why he was adored at Celtic, while his Arsenal career has been hindered by injuries. That would be the only concern for Newcastle if they are to make a move – fitness.

But he is a brilliant left-back, and would be a welcome addition to Howe’s squad, providing he can stay fit.
