Joe White will reportedly leave Newcastle United this month to join Exeter City on loan.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who believe that the League One side are set to sign the 20-year-old midfielder.
They report that White will join Gary Caldwell’s side on a deal until the end of the season, who are currently 10th in the third tier of English football.
It is a step up in level for White, who played in League Two last season during a loan spell with Hartlepool United. Now it’s League One, where he will work under a familiar face.
Joe White to join Exeter City on loan and play for Gary Caldwell again
Exeter have been managed by Caldwell since October 2022, and he is a man who has a history with Newcastle United. He started his playing career with the Magpies, but never made a senior appearance for the club.

The 40-year-old then returned to St James’ Park after his playing career ended, and became the club’s interim Under-23s boss in August 2021…for just three weeks.
Caldwell was back with the Magpies for less than a month, where he managed the likes of White. While their time together was short-lived, they will now be reunited at St James’ Park. No, that isn’t a typo – Exeter City also play at a ground called St James’ Park, just like Newcastle.
That is where White will call home for the rest of the season, as he looks to improve and grow as a footballer. His overall goal is to become a Premier League player and represent Newcastle at St James’ Park, and hopefully this loan spell helps aid his development.
The midfielder spoke out earlier this season about his desire to go out on loan. Now he is getting his wish. Let’s hope he takes his chance and thrives, just like Elliot Anderson did last season with Bristol Rovers.
