Newcastle transfer news: How much Magpies will pay to sign Garang Kuol

Newcastle are on course to sign Garang Kuol from Central Coast Mariners, and a new report shares how much the Magpies will pay for him.

It looks like Dan Ashworth has fended off interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and will be bringing Kuol to St James’ Park.

This is excellent news, and further evidence of the club heading in the right direction. The 18-year-old is an incredibly exciting talent, and has the potential to be a star in the future.

He is yet to start a competitive game at senior level, but recently made his Australia debut. The teenager dazzled off the bench, and was praised for his ability to ‘create something out of nothing‘.

That kind of skill should serve him well in the future. He is incredibly raw at the moment, but could be moulded into a top class forward.

Kuol has been linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, but it is Newcastle who are winning the race. And the Socceroos star won’t cost the club a fortune either.

New report confirms how much Kuol will cost Newcastle

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle will pay Central Coast Mariners just £300,000 for Kuol. Given the hype around him and his undoubted potential, that feels like a bit of a bargain. There was also an offer from Barcelona, but they only offered a two-year loan deal.

Sure, he is only 18 and has limited experience, but we have seen plenty of players his age go for a fee in the millions.

But Newcastle are set to secure Kuol’s signature for £300,000, and Ashworth should be very happy with his work. He is taking huge strides in improving the Magpies’ youth ranks, and Kuol is his biggest acquisition yet.

While Kuol is Newcastle bound, it will be a while before we see him play in a Toon shirt. He will not be eligible for a work permit initially, which is why the club plan to loan him out.

This is an incredibly exciting future, but it is one for the future. Hopefully in a few years time we see Kuol make his Newcastle debut, and he can prove to be worthy of the initial hype.
