A new report from the Evening Standard has stated how much Liverpool want for Newcastle target Nat Phillips in January.
The Reds defender is also being linked with West Ham, who want a new centre-back following an injury to Kurt Zouma.
Newcastle’s need for centre-backs is even greater, with the Magpies boasting the worst defence in the Premier League. We’ve conceded 34 goals so far, while our goal difference of -17 is only bettered (or worsened) by Norwich on -24.
Eddie Howe needs to improve his defence, and the Telegraph claimed recently that they could make a move for Phillips.

The 24-year-old was linked with Newcastle in the summer, but failed to seal a move away from Anfield.
Talk of a transfer is intensifying, and the Evening Standard have claimed how much he could cost next month.
£10million to sign Nat Phillips from Liverpool
They report that Liverpool want a fee in the region of £10million for Phillips. The Evening Standard add that West Ham are ready to pay that fee, despite Phillips picking up an injury in the win over AC Milan.
At £10million, Newcastle need to make a move. That’s a bargain fee for a solid Premier League defender who still has his best years ahead of him.

While he doesn’t have much, Phillips does have Premier League experience. He was thrown in at the deep end at Liverpool last season during their injury crisis.
Newcastle may be incredibly rich now, but they will still be looking for value for money. Phillips represents exactly that.
PIF must challenge West Ham and make an offer for Phillips as well. Then it will be up to which club can present the defender with the best deal.
Here’s hoping it’s Newcastle, as we need all the help we can get in the second half of the season.
