Harry Maguire looks set to leave Manchester United this summer, with Newcastle United reportedly interested in signing the defender.
That is according to TeamTalk, who report that Newcastle are an option for Manchester United skipper Maguire. They state that he has been told he can leave Old Trafford when the summer transfer window opens.
The past few years have been bleak for Maguire, who has seriously struggled since his £80million move from Leicester to the Red Devils.
He has been unable to live up to the lofty price tag, and has instead become a subject of ridicule throughout the footballing world. That is a shame, as he is a talented player as we have so often seen in an England shirt.
Maguire is someone who Callum Wilson and Danny Murphy think could thrive in at Newcastle, and that could potentially become a reality in the coming months according to reports.

According to TeamTalk’s Graeme Bailey, Erik ten Hag has told Maguire that he is free to leave this summer, with Newcastle and West Ham keen to sign him.
“Maguire does have a lot of interest, Newcastle and West Ham are just two of the number of top-flight clubs who want him,” Bailey added.
“But as said it may have to be a loan with a view to getting a deal over the line at a later date.”
He’s not what Newcastle need this summer
While Man United would probably love to send Maguire to Newcastle, that is never going to happen.
He is a good defender who needs a chance to rebuild his reputation, but a move to St James’ Park feels incredibly unlikely.
The main reason is his age. Newcastle currently have Fabian Schar who is 31-years-old, and whoever comes in will be fighting with him for a place in the starting XI.
It would surely make sense for the Magpies to sign someone much younger who can have a long-term future on Tyneside. And that is where Maguire does not fit the bill. He is just a year younger than Schar, so a move for the defender would be strange.
Newcastle are set to be in the market for a centre-back, but there are better options out there for Eddie Howe than Maguire.
West Ham are also linked, and a transfer to the London Stadium would make much more sense.
