Newcastle United have been linked with signing Antonee Robinson, but a new report claims that Fulham will not be selling him.
That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who has told Give Me Sport that Marco Silva’s side do not plan on cashing in on the 25-year-old who was recently knocked out of the World Cup.
Robinson was part of the USA squad that was knocked out by Netherlands, losing 3-1 in the Round of 16. He played every minute of every game, including the 0-0 draw with England during the Group Stage.
But now Robinson’s World Cup adventure is over, and attention will turn back to his club form.
The left-back has been enjoying a good season with Fulham, who themselves look much more comfortable at Premier League level. They are currently ninth in the table, with former Magpie Aleksandar Mitrovic seemingly leading them to survival.

But their form is attracting interest from elsewhere, with Newcastle reportedly keen on Robinson. TeamTalk recently stated that Eddie Howe’s side are interested in signing the former Wigan player, who is also a target for Inter Milan.
Robinson is a man in demand, but doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
Jones claims Fulham will not sell Robinson
Reporter Dean Jones has been speaking to Give Me Sport, and explained why Newcastle might struggle to sign Robinson next month.
“He’s had a good season with Fulham, he’s had a good World Cup,” he said.
“There’s been clear progress in his overall game too, he’s very much becoming the all-round modern full-back.
“At this stage Fulham have had no inquiries, they’ve got no intention to sell him. So we’ll have to see whether anybody can change that situation.”
Transfer blow for Newcastle
With Fulham keen to keep Robinson, Newcastle will likely have to look elsewhere for a new left-back.
But fortunately for Howe, that is a position that is not desperately in need of improvement. The Magpies’ current first choice left-back is Dan Burn, who ousted Matt Targett from the role earlier this season.
The former Aston Villa man is now second choice, while Howe also has the options of Jamal Lewis and Paul Dummett.
While improvement will be required in the future, it is not an immediate cause for concern.
Robinson would certainly add competition on the left side of defence, but he would not arrive as an outstanding improvement on our current options.
This may sound like a transfer blow, but it probably isn’t the end of the world for Newcastle United that Fulham won’t sell Antonee Robinson next month.
