Brighton And Hove Albion reportedly have a plan to stop Newcastle United or anyone else signing Evan Ferguson this summer.

Ferguson is enjoying a breakthrough season with Brighton, leading to interest from the likes of Newcastle, Manchester United and many more.

The Magpies have scouted the 18-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window, but it looks as though the Seagulls are well placed to keep hold of the teenage striker.

Brighton hope to agree new contract for Evan Ferguson

According to the Daily Mail, Brighton are planning to hand Ferguson a new contract, and are hopeful that they can reach an agreement before the end of this month.

A new deal will keep the forward at the Amex Stadium for a bit longer, and it has already been reported that he is keen to stay where he is for now.

That is understandable considering the sudden rise he has enjoyed since Roberto De Zerbi replaced Graham Potter. He has scored eight senior goals this season, and has helped Brighton reach the semi finals of the FA Cup.

Ferguson has caught the attention of world class superstar Kylian Mbappe, while he has also been described as ‘exceptional‘ by Glenn Murray – another titan of attacking just like Mbappe.

The youngster is receiving a lot of praise, and a lot of admiring glances from around the world. As well as Premier League interest, there is also talk of Bayern Munich and Barcelona watching the young Irishman.

There is plenty of interest, which is why Brighton are keen for him to sign a new contract before the end of April. The closer it gets to the summer without a new deal being signed, the more scared they will be about losing their prized possession.

He would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle, and fits the profile perfectly of what we are looking for in the transfer market. However, the Daily Mail state that only a ‘silly’ offer will see Ferguson leave, and there is no way that will come from the Magpies, who have proven to be surprisingly sensible when it comes to spending money.
