Newcastle United could raid Leicester City for new signings this summer, and Harvey Barnes is reportedly a player of interest.

James Maddison appears to be Newcastle‘s main target from the Foxes, and it was recently reported that the club plan to make a fresh move for him at the end of the season.

However, Barnes is another Leicester player who is attracting interest from Toon officials, including Sporting Director Dan Ashworth.

Dan Ashworth really likes Harvey Barnes

According to TalkSPORT, Newcastle are interested in both Maddison and Barnes. They add that Ashworth is a big fan of the latter.

That comes as no surprise, as the 25-year-old is an unbelievable player. He is an incredibly quick winger, and has proven over recent years that he can be lethal in the final third.

The England international has got 12 Premier League goals this season, which is impressive in a struggling Leicester team. It is one more goal than Miguel Almiron has got, who is having the best year of his Toon career.

Barnes was a target for the Magpies last summer, but a move failed to come to fruition. Perhaps he will be a more attainable target this year, especially with relegation potentially on the horizon.

He will get a Newcastle audition on Monday

Leicester play Newcastle on Monday, and could be relegated that night depending on how their rivals do this weekend.

Their survival bid took a huge hit last time out, when they were beaten 3-0 by Liverpool. Ashworth was in attendance at the King Power Stadium, and will not have been impressed with the likes of Barnes.

However, he will now get another chance to earn a potential Toon transfer. A strong showing at St James’ Park on Monday will only make Ashworth like Barnes even more, and it could help him convince Eddie Howe that he would be a great addition to the squad for next season.
