Newcastle United already have one exceptional winger in Anthony Gordon, and now the Magpies are looking for another.
While Eddie Howe is using the international break to rest his squad ahead of the Premier League clash with Chelsea, Toon scouts are on the lookout for players who the club could sign in 2024 and beyond.
The immediate need is for a centre-midfielder, but there is also talk of a centre-forward arriving amid the recent injuries suffered by Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.
Elsewhere, Newcastle officials have been to have a closer look at a world class talent who has been linked with the Magpies before and would walk straight into Eddie Howe’s starting XI – Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Newcastle scout Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
According to 90min, Newcastle scouts were in attendance to watch Kvaratskhelia play for Georgia against Spain on Sunday night.
The 22-year-old winger scored, but was unable to stop his country avoiding defeat with Spain winning 3-1.
90min add that scouts from Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United were also in Spain, and were there to pay close attention to Kvaratskhelia.

Newcastle were first linked in late 2022
It is exciting to hear that the Napoli star is still on our radar. He was first linked with a move to Newcastle at the end of 2022, with a report from the Times claiming that he was a top target for the club in 2023.
We are nearing the end of the year and Kvaratskhelia is still a Napoli player, having played a key role in them winning the Serie A title last season. He has started this season brightly too, boasting three goals and five assists in all competitions. In comparison, Toon winger Anthony Gordon only has two assists.
But a move for Kvaratskhelia would surely not be to replace Gordon. Instead, it would be for them to play together. And putting them alongside Alexander Isak would make Newcastle’s attack even more deadly than it already is.
The issue is that Kvaratskhelia’s ability is no secret. The whole world knows how good he is, which is why the world’s best clubs want to sign him.
Newcastle appear to still be an interested suitor, but it would be staggering if they were able to complete a deal for a ‘phenomenal’ player who is better than Jack Grealish in the eyes of Antonio Cassano.
