Newcastle United look like they are going to be safe and there has to be at least one eye on the summer transfer window.
A report by the Chronicle has offered some insight into what the club’s transfer priorities are when the market reopens in June.
They say that Atalanta striker Dusan Zapata is a target and he has one year left on his contract with the Serie A club.

But there is another Serie A hitman who is a greater priority.
23-year-old Gianluca Scamacca is a player head of recruitment Steve Nickson is well aware of and is a big fan of.
He is an Italian international with two caps to his name so far and is more of one for the future than Zapata would be.

He has 13 goals to his name in the league, although he was part of the squad which has been knocked out of World Cup qualification against North Macedonia earlier this week.
It is not clear how much he would cost, but Newcastle need a new hitman to offer competition and cover for Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.
Getting a new prolific frontman would be a big boost but the same report says that the club will not be held to ransom over transfer fees in Eddie Howe’s first summer in charge.
