Newcastle now the only Premier League side yet to make a first-team signing

Newcastle United are now the only side in the Premier League yet to make a first-team signing.

Yesterday, Chelsea completed a move for goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.

That particular move officially means Newcastle are lagging behind every other club in the division in terms of signings for the first-team.

West Ham United haven’t technically brought in any new faces, but they have turned Craig Dawson’s loan move permanent.

Goalkeeper Scott Carson is also technically a first-team signing for Manchester City.

Really, many supporters wouldn’t have expected anything less.

The takeover saga has been rumbling on in the background.

That won’t be coming to fruition any time soon, if at all, after the arbitration hearing was adjourned until early 2022.

And it’s been reported Newcastle have a very restricted transfer budget this summer.

Steve Bruce mainly wants to add to his midfield.

Joe Willock is the main priority, but the player and Arsenal need to give the green light.

Bruce recently said that the club had ‘one or two things bubbling away’, but it’s been all quiet.

Newcastle being the only club not to make a first-team signing, 15 days before the 2021/22 season starts, has come as no surprise to many supporters on social media.
