Newcastle United have already told Chelsea that they no longer plan to pursue Christian Pulisc this summer.

This is coming off the back of Shaka Hislop’s plea for Christian Pulisic to join Newcastle, it seems that Shaka‘s wish won’t come true.

The Athletic has done a report on the future if USMNT’s Captain America as he looks set to leave Chelsea this summer having been made available for just £20million. However they state that Newcastle have already made it clear to The Blues that they won’t be in the queue for his signature.

Newcastle tried to land Pulisic on loan last summer and in January

Newcastle tried in vain to land Pulisic on loan last summer and again in January and were tipped to go back in again this summer with a fresh bid, but that now looks to be off the table.

In a way it makes sense as after qualifying for the Champions League, Newcastle are now looking at an entirely different transfer strategy to the one they were looking at last summer and even at the turn of the year.

I think it’s a bit early to rule out a move for him all together. As I said before, if Eddie Howe got his hands on Pulisic he could revitalise his career and getting playing at his best on a consistent basis. His pace is a threat at all times, even when he’s not playing on top of his game.

Newcastle may revisit Pulisic late in the window

If Howe could get him drilled and up to the standard he has managed to get out of our formerly-failing players, £20million would be a bargain.

Having said that though, I fully trust the system. Dan Ashworth and Eddie Howe have their plan and I have faith that they know what they’re doing. They certainly no better than I do.

Perhaps this is a move that could be revisited late in the window if we fail with our primary targets and Pulisic hasn’t found himself a new club.
