Newcastle are seemingly already planning for the summer transfer window, in the event they remain a Premier League club by then.
Reports from Italy claim that the Magpies have already made contact over Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic ahead of a summer move.
Calcio Mercato claim that Fiorentina would be prepared to sell the defender for the first price, which should encourage Newcastle.

They claim that Newcastle have competition from Serie A in the shape of giants Juventus and AC Milan.
Milan of course wanted to sign Sven Botman in the winter window and the two clubs could be set to battle it out again.
But maybe one will get Botman and the other will get Milenkovic, leaving both historic teams happy with their defensive reinforcements.

Milenkovic was described as “extraordinary” by his former Fiorentina teammate and current Marseille defender Pol Lirola in X-Sport in March 2020.
That quality is underlined by the strength of the interest in the central defender and his contract only runs until 2023, as per the report.
That means that he need not cost an absolute fortune despite the interest in him, although of course the immediate priority is staying up to make the club as attractive a proposition as possible between now and then.
